‘They should be paying me to watch this’: Pros roast Devin Haney for boring win at Times Square show

Devin Haney’s return to the ring ended with his hand raised, but his reputation might have taken a hit in the process.

In his first fight since his controversial clash with Ryan Garcia in April 2024, Haney won a unanimous decision after 12 dreadful rounds of inaction at Times Square in New York. Haney spent much of the contest circling and circling and circling, with few meaningful punches being thrown. Fortunately for him, opponent Jose Ramirez was even more ineffective and Haney ran away on the scorecards with a pair of 119-109s and a 118-110.

It was not the triumphant performance Haney fans had been waiting for. The 26-year-old was looking to bounce back from the Garcia fight, which saw him suffer his first loss after being on the wrong end of a majority decision, only to later see that result overturned when Garcia failed a drug test.

Twelve months later, Haney did little to inspire hopes of a rematch, at least according to the online reaction. Fighters savaged Haney’s performance, with some wondering if they should be the ones paid to have watched the fight.
